More Pours And A Value Study

I've been doing the Daily Paintworks though some days I don't get it done until just before going to bed so it doesn't get posted every day.  These are the three recent additions.

Pouring acrylic is so totally different than the watercolor pours that I have done in the past but haven't done in a very long time.  Over at wetcanvas for the weekend drawing event there was a scene that I thought might be a candidate for one of those watercolor pours.  This will not be a daily, the process is a slow one, lots of drying time in between pours.

The first step is the value study.  Here's the finished value study and the image I'm working from..
If you haven't seen one of my poured paintings here's one that was on display at the Coast Guard Festival Office for Wine About Winter

Still Pouring Acrylics

Yesterday and today... both poured acrylics using Quin Azo Gold, Black, White and Gold.  I like the first one, still warming up to the second one.  I see a billy goat in there and I am tempted to flush him out.  Maybe that will be tomorrows task... maybe not.  We shall see.

Wine, My Dailies And A New Technique

Last night was the annual Wine About Winter event here in Grand Haven, always a fun event with lots of wine tasting spots and lots of art.  I was at the Coast Guard Festival Office where Mike Smith and his crew put on an elaborate spread.  Thank you Mike for having my art at your venue.  I enjoyed the evening.

Getting ready for the event meant I didn't get my daily posted.  I did get it done, just not posted so today I'll post two.  Having seen some acrylic pours at a recent Gallery Uptown exhibit I decided to give it a try.  I've poured acrylic skins so I had a bit of vague idea of how it was done.  This was my first try.

Today's was a little watercolor because I'm putting Christmas away and took a short break with my watercolors and a pinecone wreath that my sister-in-law did many years ago.  Actually, she did it for my husband before we were married, we'll celebrate 42 years this year.  I still use it as part of a centerpiece on our dining room table every Christmas.
Tomorrow I'll probably do a few more pours.  It's messy but fun and now I've watched a few videos and learned a bit more about how it's done.

Books, Boxes and my Daily Challenge

This morning I went to Craft Circle at Church.  The speaker was Claudia Squio, Colorwayarts.  Pop over and take a peak at her wonderful books and boxes.  I am inspired to make a few boxes... she had my head swimming with ideas.  She teaches too.

And my daily challenge.  I was tempted to start on a box when I got home but discipline... I had to get a daily done.  Today I played with mixed media, an abstract piece and an even piece for the weekly challenge.  This is Two plus Two...
It's 8 x 8 mounted on a cradle that is 1 3/4 inches deep.  Now I'm going to go play, maybe a box for my embroidery stuff.

Wine About Winter & My Daily

First, the daily... I am slowly putting away Christmas and these crab apples seemed a good candidate for the Even Challenge over at Daily Paintworks and my daily painting.
The rest of my day was spent judging Wine About Winter entries with Colleen Rockey and Bette DelVecchio.  We saw a lot of art, all of it good though as always some were better than others.  We had a hard time narrowing it down to the winners but we managed.

If you are local, come on downtown Friday evening for Wine About Winter, taste a variety of wines and see some good art.  It's always a fun evening.  Stop by the Coast Guard Festival Office and see what I'm showing.  I'll be there most of the evening along with some of my nautical works.

Day Two & A Challenge

Here's a tiny piece I did at the Library today, it's the day Tuesday Painters meet.  I also accepted the Daily Painters Challenge... Even.  Good design usually includes an uneven number of images,  the challenge was to use an even number.  I did four leaves.  It's a tiny piece, just 2x2.  I may add it to a note card.

No Resolutions, Just A Word

This years word is "Daily."  And to help me remember it, I've joined the Daily Paintworks site.  I'm not going to start posting until next week; I still have a bit to learn about how to use the site.  Meanwhile, I am still doing a bit of work in my sketchbook and this is the latest....
I like the pears and strawberries, not crazy about the background.  May have to try this again
