A Shrine for my sister

Most of my time this week was spent on this birthday present for my sister. It's the first I've ever done and it was great fun but I should have followed the directions... a bad habit of mine... read the directions through once... do the first step according to what it tells me to do and then wing it. This one is built out of foam core which I covered with Roclon blackout fabric... they suggested rice paper which would have been easier... which is why it took longer for me to do. The Roclon is white so I first painted it using acrylic paints, oil pastels and rubber stamps. Once it was all together I added images of what is most important to her.... her kids and grandkids... my brother and I are there too. The cards... she loves to play games... and the fish on either side, she's a Pisces.

Looks good Helen, she'll love it. very creative piece, lots of work. I've got a Pieces sister too, her birthday is coming up March 5. We usually exchange jewelery for Birthdays, as we like each other's taste in it. :)

Very cool, Helen. I'd love to see this in person. Where did you find instructions for building it??

Thank you Sharron and Diahn...

Sharron, I'm a Pieces too, so is my niece and sister-in-law ... Dad and my uncle were too... a whole bunch of fish swimming in two directions at once :^)

Diahn... I found the directions in a book... Crafting Personal Shrines by Carol Owen. I'm not sure how to add a link from this spot (still new to blogging) but I'll e-mail it to you.
