This week my Tuesday Painters group went to a friend’s who
lives on the river. Landscapes are not
my thing but every now and then I try… this is one that tempted me because
there was water.
Green is hard for me because it isn’t a color I’m in love
with and it’s kind of necessary if one is going to paint a landscape that
actually looks like what one is seeing.
I did think about changing the colors all together; however, I wanted
the water so I went for the green.
Here is another one that gave me a challenge… which I
know is a good thing but we resist at times don’t we.
And two that are more like what I like to sketch….
What do you think, is there a color you aren’t real fond of?

I LOVE green , but I think of it as a neutral. It is the neutral of the world outside, at least in Michigan for six months of the year at least. It makes its compliment sing. Yellow and khaki type greens make peach glow. I don't think I can think of anything prettier them a red cardinal in a dark Evergreen fir.
I used to think I didn't like brown and orange, but I have been playing around with dying warmer colors, and I find that Brown is the perfect foil for flame oranges, yellow, and red.

Linda, I love the warmer tones, especially browns with blues. Your comment about the cardinal in the dark evergreen made me think -- oh yes, I love that. But just green, not so much. I am getting to like some of them though. Just have to keep working on it.
Pink - I definitely do not like pink. I think that comes from a pink bedroom I had growing up. It wasn't me at all. All other colors are just fine.
LOL, pink... some I like... hot pink but no pastel pink thank you.
About the only color I'm not overly fond of is orange. I'm happy with all the others and even little bits of orange...although I did buy a shirt recently that once I brought it home it looked orange, not pink/peach like I thought. lol Maybe my eyes are going.
Green is my favourite color, also I like orange. Especially in autumn and winter, when there are many grey things around. I think, every person wants a small piece of inspiration and fun.
